Ooey-Gooey Cheesy Garlic Chicken Wraps You’ll Crave Again and Again

Whether you’re looking for a quick weeknight dinner, a hearty lunch, or a crowd-pleasing appetizer, these wraps fit the bill. They cook quickly in a skillet, use pantry staples, and are endlessly customizable to suit your cravings.

Ingredients

  • Cooked chicken breast diced 2 cups
  • Garlic minced 4 cloves
  • Olive oil 1 tablespoon
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese 1 cup
  • Shredded cheddar cheese 1 cup
  • Medium flour tortillas 4 pieces
  • Butter 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped parsley optional 1 tablespoon
  • Salt and black pepper To taste

Method

  1. Step 1: Prep the Chicken and Garlic.
If your chicken isn’t already cooked, start there. You can grill, bake, or sauté it—whatever method works best for you. Season lightly with salt and pepper to give it a base flavor. Once cooked through, dice the chicken into small chunks that are easy to wrap and bite into.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Toss in the minced garlic and let it cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, just until golden and fragrant. Be careful not to burn it—garlic can turn bitter quickly. Once aromatic, add in the diced chicken and stir to coat everything evenly in the garlicky oil.
  2. Step 2: Add the Cheese and Fill the Wraps
While the chicken is still hot in the pan, turn off the heat and immediately add both the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. The residual heat will help the cheese start melting into the chicken mixture, creating that ooey-gooey texture we’re going for.
Lay each tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spoon a generous amount of the cheesy chicken mixture into the center. Fold in the sides and roll tightly like a burrito. Be sure to keep the filling compact—this makes it easier to cook and keeps the wrap from falling apart in the skillet.
  3. Step 3: Toast Until Golden and Crispy;
Melt the butter in a clean skillet over medium heat. Place each wrap seam-side down and press gently with a spatula. Toast for about 2–3 minutes per side until the tortillas are golden brown and slightly crisped. Flip carefully to avoid tearing the wrap or spilling the filling.
Once all wraps are toasted, let them rest for 1–2 minutes before slicing. This helps the cheese firm up just slightly, so it doesn’t ooze out too quickly when you cut into them. If you like, sprinkle with chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness.

🌯 Tasty Twists and Customization Tips
The beauty of these wraps is how easy they are to make your own. Want a shortcut? Use rotisserie chicken or leftover grilled chicken. Prefer a different protein? Try ground turkey, shredded pork, or even chickpeas for a vegetarian version.
You can also mix up the cheese—pepper jack adds heat, gouda gives a smoky depth, and Monterey Jack melts like a dream. Add-ins like sautéed onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach will bulk them up and bring in extra nutrients. Craving spice? Throw in chopped jalapeños or a pinch of crushed red pepper.
For an extra punch of garlic, brush the outside of each tortilla with garlic butter before toasting—it adds a delicious crust. And if you're gluten-free or low-carb, swap the flour tortillas for a certified GF version or lettuce wraps.
